This was the very first Ollie & Quentin comic launched by King Features Syndicate back in 2008.
It’s a reworking of an old comic I created for the UK’s RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution). They’d commissioned me to create a comic strip about a lifeboat man called Stormy Stan. I gave him a seagull sidekick called Eric and then gave Eric his own sidekick called Quentin.
As the RNLI owned the rights to the name Eric I had to change my seagull’s name to Ollie. I chose it because you can draw him using the letters of his name. Go on, try it!
Quentin is named after my youngest brother.
